Evoluon, the icon of Eindhoven, was built in 1966 as a technology and science museum by Philips. From 1996 until recently it functioned as a congress center. Currently with the collaboration between Next Nature Network and Evoluon Foundation, the building is being transformed and will reopen as a future lab of technology, design and innovation to host diverse events and public exhibitions.
As a part of the transformation and renovation, we propose a pedestrian route where visitors can discover innovative and sustainable solutions, as well as experience this unique piece of architecture from a different perspective. With a focus on biodiversity, water management and sustainable energy, we start the experience already at the parking where tree-like structures capture solar energy, collect the rainwater and provide shading for the visitors. The path leads further across this artificial ‘forest’ onto the green roof and terrace, opening a panoramic view of the city. In addition of bringing sustainable roof solution, opening a new urban level will provide a great experience and educational value for the visitors.
