In 2022, we had the fortunate opportunity to reclaim a batch of greyish-pink MDF from an exhibition. This particular shade of MDF was unlike any material samples available from suppliers, suggesting it was a unique production run — perhaps even a serendipitous accident. Its rare pink tone exuded a mineral-like essence that piqued our curiosity, compelling us to seek out a project worthy of its distinctive character.

The perfect occasion arose when we were commissioned to design the interior for 'M,' the vibrant coffee bar at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

Inspired by the MDF's unique qualities, the S(tone) Collection was conceptualized. The collection includes an array of tables, stools, couches, and lighting. Each piece is envisioned as if sculpted directly from a stone block, with clean, monolithic volumes that speak as if the material has sturdiness and timeless beauty.

To accompany the MDF's pinkish hue, we selected cherry wood for the finishing touches. The wood's reddish tones elegantly frame the edges, adding a touch of  warmth to the pieces. Additionally, we chose cushions in green color with a hint of blue, infusing a forest color tone to the stone-like MDF.

Our lighting design is a series of adjustable hanging fixtures. Each light is housed in a 3D-printed shell made from stone filament, cradling an LED glass tube.
